Beowulf/ Anglo Saxon Common Core Exam

We have embraced the common core standards here in New York, and I used Beowulf as the text for my first common core unit.
This 12 page document contains TWO FULL EXAMS. The FIRST EXAM is a traditional 50 question exam, which includes matching and multiple choice questions. The questions range from character and plot recall, to vocabulary knowledge, to literary terms knowledge (Beowulf specific)

The SECOND EXAM is a common core exam to be given following the study of Beowulf or Gilgamesh. Using an unfamiliar text (an Anglo-Saxon poem), students must apply knowledge and skills practiced during the unit: vocabulary in context, literary device identification and analysis, historical approach comparison, and an essay on the epic.
